PSA & UNIONS NSW JOB CUTS = SERVICE CUTS RALLY

20 February 2007

Sydney Town Hall

9.00 am, Thursday March 15

For the last year the PSA has been running our Job Cuts = Service Cuts campaign to oppose public service job cuts by both Labor and Liberal/National Governments.

We have had numerous public meetings across the state, meeting which have served to publicise the link between job cuts and service cuts.

We have exposed Debnam’s policy of cutting 29,000 jobs, a policy that was rapidly reduced to 20,000 jobs. We are continuing to expose the damage to services that 20,000 job cuts will do.

The campaign is continuing to gain momentum.

Unions NSW has been supportive of the campaign throughout, and is now joining with us having a pre-election rally at the Town Hall.

The meeting/rally is at 9.00 am and will last no more than an hour.  This will allow members in the city to be at work by 10.30 am. The PSA will write to Premier’s Dept asking them approve flexible starting times and leave arrangements to allow staff to attend.

While PSA members will make up the bulk of the meeting, other unions are encouraging their members and friends to attend.

Please put this date in your diary, and turn up to the Town Hall on 15 March.

All supporters of decent public services are welcome.
